Reviews
Why would anybody pay $150.00 or more for a book that you can get for $5.00 (or even for free) at the source?? I gave it 1 star mainly for the price. I have read the book and I have to agree that the overall message is absolutely inspiring and beautiful. I cannot say whether or not it is the truth or pure science/fiction, however, the giant ants and cockroaches do look cheesy.

Reviews
I trust the content of this book but it may be difficult for many to believe. It is interesting book even you treat this as science fiction. This book is talking about many mysteries of world confidently and of course conveying very profound message of spirituality and peace.

This book covers variety of interesting topics like structure of Galaxy, different dimensions, origin of human race on earth, reincarnation, pyramids. This book also explains astral body and higher-self. I also like description of psycho-sphere (Akshik records). You can avoid chapter on religion if you don't like it. Overall it's a nice read, just give it a shot.

Michael has claimed that he has written book by order from higher intelligence from other planet for betterment of earth and money making is not his aim. Unlike other authors he sticks to his words because this book is also available for FREE (PDF-eBook) from www.thiaoouba.com. So in case you can not buy it you can request free PDF copy. But I like it so much I ordered paperback, I don't know why it is not available on amazon.com.
Reviews
The author probably did disappear for nine days, but it wasn't to another planet. More likely it was to a local motel with a bottle of Jack Daniels and a laptop. My interest in this story died on page 14 along with the giant cockroach!
Reviews
i have read esoteric book for the last 40 years and have come across utter nonsense and sometimes amazingly good books. if i had not read tons of books on astral travel and parallel universes before i would have probably characterized this book as great science fiction, but not more. of course, i cannot really verify all the michael write about (i have had only a few OOB experiences), but my inner self tells me its about as accurate as it gets.
Reviews
Thao thank you for showing Michael all of this. I am greatly inspired by the truth being shared in this manner.

Battling Resistance to Antibiotics and Pesticides: An Economic Approach

Battling Resistance to Antibiotics and Pesticides: An Economic Approach
Professor Ramanan Laxminarayan | 2002-12-26 00:00:00 | RFF Press | 400 | Economics
The increasing resistance of bacteria to antibiotics, and pests to pesticides, threatens to undo some of the most remarkable advances made in public health and agriculture during the past century. Though the potential consequences of increased antibiotic and pesticide resistance are far reaching, regulatory efforts to address the problem are at a very early stage. Battling Resistance to Antibiotics and Pesticides moves discussions forward by presenting cutting edge research and the first comprehensive application of economic tools to analyze how antibiotics and pesticides should be used to maximize their value to society. Laxminarayan and his contributors explore lessons from past experiences with resistance, especially in agriculture. They consider what incentives would be ideal for the individuals who prescribe or apply antibiotics and pesticides, and what would be ideal for the firms engaged in developing and producing these products.

The chapters in this groundbreaking book reflect the fact that efforts to combat resistance will require contributions from a broad range of scholars and professionals, representing a broad range of expertise. The analysis in Battling Resistance demonstrates that, for all these participants, an understanding of economic issues is an essential complement to a knowledge of medical or biological factors.

Bound for Freedom: Black Los Angeles in Jim Crow America (George Gund Foundation Imprint in African American Studies)

Bound for Freedom: Black Los Angeles in Jim Crow America (George Gund Foundation Imprint in African American Studies)
Douglas Flamming | 2005-01-24 00:00:00 | University of California Press | 485 | African Americans
Paul Bontemps decided to move his family to Los Angeles from Louisiana in 1906 on the day he finally submitted to a strictly enforced Southern custom-he stepped off the sidewalk to allow white men who had just insulted him to pass by. Friends of the Bontemps family, like many others beckoning their loved ones West, had written that Los Angeles was "a city called heaven" for people of color. But just how free was Southern California for African Americans? This splendid history, at once sweeping in its historical reach and intimate in its evocation of everyday life, is the first full account of Los Angeles's black community in the half century before World War II. Filled with moving human drama, it brings alive a time and place largely ignored by historians until now, detailing African American community life and political activism during the city's transformation from small town to sprawling metropolis. Writing with a novelist's sensitivity to language and drawing from fresh historical research, Douglas Flamming takes us from Reconstruction to the Jim Crow era, through the Great Migration, the Roaring Twenties, the Great Depression, and the build-up to World War II. Along the way, he offers rich descriptions of the community and its middle-class leadership, the women who were front and center with men in the battle against racism in the American West. In addition to drawing a vivid portrait of a little-known era, Flamming shows that the history of race in Los Angeles is crucial for our understanding of race in America. The civil rights activism in Los Angeles laid the foundation for critical developments in the second half of the century that continue to influence us to this day. Illustrations: 40 b/w photographs, 5 maps
Reviews
Douglas Flamming has done scholars, historians, and the public a favor by putting out the first in-depth and fully accessible history of African Americans in Los Angeles.

In his work, Flamming focuses on the life of Charlotta Bass, the editor and publisher of the California Eagle newspaper. She came to Los Angeles in 1910 and died in 1969, and saw the world change around her. She was also an activist who sought to improve the lives of African Americans in southern California. But she did not do it alone. Flamming also tells us the stories of Fred Roberts, John and Vada Somerville and the indefatigable Betty Hill.

He also describes the famous places, such as the busy life on Central Avenue before it became known as South Central. There was the Dunbar Hotel, the only place black people could stay in during those years, and the nationally famous jazz club, the Club Alabam, which was a magnet for the biggest names in the country.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. If you are a student of Black history, California history, or life in Los Angeles just before and after World War II, get this book. Even if you are not, it is still a great read (aside from being thoroughly documented).

The Elements of Typographic Style

The Elements of Typographic Style
Robert Bringhurst | 1996-12-01 00:00:00 | Hartley & Marks | 352 | Graphic Design
Renowned typographer and poet Robert Bringhurst brings clarity to the art of typography with this masterful style guide. Combining the practical, theoretical, and historical, this edition is completely updated, with a thorough exploration of the newest innovations in intelligent font technology, and is a must-have for graphic artists, editors, or anyone working with the printed page using digital or traditional methods.
This lovely, well-written book is concerned foremost with creating beautiful typography and is essential for professionals who regularly work with typographic designs. Author Robert Bringhurst writes about designing with the correct typeface; striving for rhythm, proportion, and harmony; choosing and combining type; designing pages; using section heads, subheads, footnotes, and tables; applying kerning and other type adjustments to improve legibility; and adding special characters, including punctuation and diacritical marks. The Elements of Typographic Style teaches the history of and the artistic and practical perspectives on a variety of type families that are available in Europe and America today.

The last section of the book classifies and displays many type families, offers a glossary of typography terms, and lists type designers and type foundries. The book briefly mentions digital typography, but otherwise ignores it, focusing instead on general typography and page- and type-design issues. Its examples include text in a variety of languages--including English, Russian, German, and Greek--which is particularly helpful if your work has a multinational focus.

Great piece of work. Pleasant to read through and excelent in form and its content.

I've searched for this book after seeing it in person at my colleague. Description of the item at Amazon was exact and accurate.

I've got exactly what I was looking for.
Reviews
I received my book right on time! It was in great condition, a lot better than I expected. (:
Reviews
An incredibly comprehensive journey through the art and science of typography. Written with a poetic edge, the book is a romantic embrace of the world of 'type'. The text often borders on grandiloquence, sometimes resulting in a loss of clarity, but the practical applications, and the author's overriding passion for the subject, justify this book's reputation as a classic of the field. This is not a a book for the professional alone, it is a romance on typography to be read for anybody who wants to enrich his/her reading experience. It reveals how much beauty a well designed book can offer. This is a must-have book for anyone that wants to know the rules of using the printed word correctly.
Reviews
Subtlety, elegance, simplicity. As someone once said: "Its simple to make something difficult, but difficult to make something simple." This expression holds true for this book. This book is not for the faint of heart; it is dense with typographic information spanning a wide breadth from history to art, and theory to practice. This book is one of the few texts on typography that I flip back to when something I've typeset is bothering me. As a reference text, I have yet to see one that is quite so useful.
Reviews

Analog-Baseband Architectures and Circuits: for Multistandard and Low-Voltage Wireless Transceivers (Analog Circuits and Signal Processing)

Analog-Baseband Architectures and Circuits: for Multistandard and Low-Voltage Wireless Transceivers (Analog Circuits and Signal Processing)
| 2007-11-01 00:00:00 | | 0 | Miscellaneous

Analog-Baseband Architectures and Circuits reviews the fundamentals and studies the state-of-the-art multistandard transceivers before describing novel architectural and circuit techniques for implementing multimode and wideband (tens of MHz) baseband analog front-ends under low-voltage constraints. Techniques developed on architecture level for efficient system-in-package (SiP) integration, testability and multi-standardability; and on circuit level for reducing the required supply voltage, power and area, are generally applicable for most wireless systems, and are somewhat independent to technology scaling. Experimental 1-V baseband building blocks (i.e., double-quadrature-downconversion filter, programmable-gain amplifier and dc-offset canceler) and a 1-V fully-integrated receiver analog-baseband chain for IEEE 802.11a/b/g WLAN validate the techniques. The implementations are all in standard-VTH CMOS process, and no voltage boosting is required at any node.

Analog-Baseband Architectures and Circuits will be relevant to system architects, circuit designers, professors and students engaged in wireless transceiver front-ends research and development.
